It's possible to send guests a link via email or SMS, to capture a card as security against their booking or room. This can be set up from within the Messaging Centre on the left-hand navigation menu in Caterbook.
On the Templates screen, click the blue Add new button to create a new email or SMS template. Create a name for the template, select the Message type and set it as Active.
Add a message subject header and create the message, using the Placeholder variables drop down list to create the tags within the body of the template. There are two links - a regular Verify Link and also a Verify Naked Link. The naked link option is included for OTA guests (where an OTA proxy email address is in use), as the regular link cannot be accessed by them. Therefore, you'll likely want to add both links to your email template.
The template can be scheduled to be sent out automatically (click here for details), or manually sent from the Guests tab of a booking record. Where there are multiple rooms within a booking, card details can be requested for each room, by clicking the Email icon to the right of each guest entry, or just for the Lead guest.
Clicking the link within the email will automatically open the Caterpay payment gateway portal in the guest's web browser, where they can securely submit their details.
Once card details have been submitted using the link, they will appear in the finance section of the booking record, as a Caterpay - Verify, and can be 'rebilled' as required.
