Background.
Where you have no availability in the same physical room for a multi-night stay, for a given room type e.g., 'Standard Double', many PMS systems will not allow a booking to be made online. This results in lost revenue, or an awkward situation where a guest makes two separate one-night bookings which have to be managed individually (moving rooms mid-stay, two payments, two invoices, etc).
Caterbook's shuffle row allows you to pro-actively optimise your availability by moving bookings on the calendar to open up longer night stays in specific rooms. But, where you have a scenario of Room 1 being the only free 'double' on Monday, and Room 2 being the only free 'double' on Tuesday, split-room bookings are taken. An alert is displayed on the Dashboard (and an email sent to the property) giving you the opportunity to either shuffle existing bookings around (to move the 'splits' into the same physical room), or contact the guest ahead of arrival to advise they'll need to move rooms mid-stay.
What's new?
Once you have all the splits in the same room, we've now added the ability to merge them into one continuous stay with just a couple of clicks:
You get a notification of a split date booking:
From the Calendar screen, use the 'Filter by Room Type' to show only rooms of the type that the split is for:
Use the shuffle row to get all the splits into the same room:
Now, click into the booking record. Providing the splits are in the same room, for the same room type, rate plan, number of guests and continuous dates, you can click the new, blue '>>' icon on the earliest date to merge these into a single room record.
