New Room types can be added from the Inventory sub-menu.
Step 1.
The first step is to create the room type itself, by clicking the Add new button on the Room type editor screen.
The top third of the Add new Room Type screen allows you to set a Room name - as seen on the web booking engine and any correspondence with your guest eg. confirmations, invoices etc, and a Short name - used for identifying the room throughout the Caterbook account itself.
A Cleaning frequency, or multiple frequencies can be assigned to the room type for the purpose of generating a daily house keeping report (click here for more details).
The Bedding configuration can be used as a filter for staff when making a manual booking. Where multiple room types are configured as a bedding configuration, all options will appear in an availability search. For example a search for 'twin' will give all room types configured as such - budget, standard, superior etc.
The room Description appears on the web booking engine, to give guests an idea of what they can expect for each room type.
The Amenities settings are optional but these also appear on the web booking engine and allow guests to see at a glance, what's included with the room type.
The maximum Occupancy of the room type and Max.children rules allow you to control how many guests can be booked into each room type.
You can set the maximum number of children permitted in each room type and whether or not they take availability. So for example, if you have a double room which could also fit an additional child bed, you could set the Max. children option to 1 but not set the Children take availability setting.
The Display order in which the Room type appears on your booking engine can be set, along with the status of the room type - Active/Inactive (room types will only become bookable once pricing has been added).
Up to 3 images of the Room type can be added. Image 1 will appear as the main picture on the web booking engine and the other two can be viewed by the guest if they click on the room type name to view more information.
Step 2.
Once the Room type has been created and saved, rooms can be assigned to it by clicking the Assign Rooms to Types button on the Room Types screen.
Map the required rooms to the new room type on the Assign Rooms to Types screen. The number assigned to each room in the mapping column, indicates the order in which each room will be sold.
Step 3.
New room types will automatically be tied to the Public Rate Schedule. The last step is to set rate occupancy rules and add pricing, to make the new room type bookable on your website. (N.B. if you have a separate rate schedule for OTAs, the new room type will need to be assigned to it first, before you can add pricing and map to the sales channels).
