The Merchant Management System (MMS) is the Caterpay extranet, and you were given your login details for this in your welcome email. From here, you can view the status of cards that you have verified, charged or refunded and reconcile them. Also, you can pre-authorise cards from here, and make changes to your account settings, but we strongly advise you contact us before doing so.
2FA has been an optional feature within the MMS since 8 October 2018. In line with good practice security guidelines and PSD2 regulation, Caterpay will now be mandating 2FA for all user accounts with effect from Wednesday 11 September 2019.
(Please note, this only affects access to MMS. It does not impact on processing cards in Caterbook).
Caterpay’s 2FA process requires a user to authenticate their account using a third-party authenticator app to obtain a secure verification code each time they log in. For example, to access the MMS a user would type in their username and password and will then be prompted to enter a six-digit number generated by their chosen authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator). These numbers change every 30 seconds and are different for every login. By entering the correct number, the user completes the user-verification process and proves possession of the correct device.
By default, the MMS recommends that the user downloads the Google Authenticator app, details of which can be found here. However, the Gateway is configured to work with most third-party authentication apps. You can download Google Authenticator for Android here, or Apple devices here. You can of course use a different authenticator app if you'd prefer.
Ahead of the security update deadline, users can configure 2FA themselves from within the MMS by clicking on their User Profile (top right of the MMS screen)
and selecting ‘Setup 2FA’.
The user will then be given the steps to complete the authenticator app setup, along with the ability to download their back-up codes for emergency uses where the authenticator app isn’t accessible.
Instructions for setting up 2FA are provided during the setup process, as below:
In order to deliver the security update, Caterpay will automatically enable 2FA for any users who do not set it up themselves before the deadline date. Any such users will then not be able to use any of the functionality within the MMS until configuration is complete.
