Getting started.
From Settings / Property / Booking template -
Scroll down until you see the section: Scripts and URLs.
Important. The first 3 sections (Your website booking URL, Home page search widget code and Booking page code) are used if you want to embed the booking engine into your own website. The fourth section (Pop up booking page link) is only to be used where you are unable to use the embed code (for example if you are using a simple web builder tool that doesn't support embedding scripts). This enables you to launch a new Caterbook hosted page with your booking engine on it.
Embedding the booking engine.
Step 1.
In Your website booking URL enter the address of the website page where you intend to sit the booking engine. It's important to get this correct. It might be something like:
https://www.myhotelwebsite.co.uk/book-now.html
It might be best to visit the page and then copy and paste this from your browser into Caterbook.
Once you paste that URL, your Home page seach widget code and Booking page code will be created.
Step 2.
Do you want a search bar to sit on your homepage?
Copy and paste the Home page search widget code into your website's home page. This gives a very easy way for a guest to see that online booking is active, and quickly check availability.
Step 3.
Copy and paste the Booking page code into your booking page (the one you entered in Step 1 above).
Clicking through from your homepage will now show results on the booking page, or guests could go directly to your "Book now" page from any other page via the navigation menu.
Using the booking engine "pop up".
If you are experiencing issues with items being badly aligned due to clashes with your website's underlying design or you can't embed code onto your site (sometimes "out the box" website builders like Wix can cause issues), we suggest you (or your web designer) copy the Pop up booking page link code, and paste this into a website menu link, or a button on your web builder platform.
You can still use the home page search bar on some site builders, even if you experience issues with the formatting of the booking page itself. In this case, you can tick the "Use pop up link as booking page" box, and this will "point" home page widget at the pop up screen, instead of the embedded "book-now" page.
